For years now, technology company Razer have been at the forefront of the gaming technology industry with regards to computer gaming. Towards the end of 2017, the company brought out it’s latest handheld device, a mobile phone with the 3 network that was optimised for gaming on the go, and now the company has gone one step further with the interestingly-titled Project Linda, revealed at CES 2018.

“Fitted with Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, an HDR camera, and a 5.7 inch screen size, there is no doubt that this is the gamer’s phone.”

For those of you not familiar with the company, Razer is a world-leading innovator of high-performance gaming hardware, software and systems. Their motto on their website is: “For Gamers. By Gamers.”. When it comes to advertising what you do and who your audience is, it doesn’t get much clearer than that. If that’s not enough for you, however, one quick scroll through their homepage will show you a plethora of computer accessories, hardware and brand-new systems with fancy names, or built-in LED lights to give your gaming experience that extra kick.

Razer recently made available their latest project, the Razer Phone, at an event in London in partnership with mobile phone network, 3, going on sale in November 2017. The phone boasts the latest up-to-date specifications, including an Octa-Core CPU, with up to 64GB of RAM storage, and the possibility for another 256GB with a micro-SD card. Fitted with Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, an HDR camera, and a 5.7 inch screen size, there is no doubt that this is the gamer’s phone, ushering in a new era of handheld gaming with the arrival of new augmented reality games such as Pokemon Go.

In early January of 2018, Razer unveiled their latest project, a phone/laptop hybrid, titled Project Linda. The device acts as a normal laptop would, but comes with Android compatibility, where an Android phone would be able to slot into a hole at the front of the laptop. Docking a Razer phone into the laptop would allow for the phone to become the laptop, in essence. The docked phone can be used as a second screen, or second touch pad for the laptop. Some of the key features in Project Linda include a 13.3-inch screen, a full keyboard as well as 200GB of storage.

Mobile games are becoming more popular than ever before, particularly with the rise of games such as Clash of Clans, Lineage II, and Pokemon Go taking centre stage over the last few years. Famous faces such as Liam Neeson and Conan O’Brien have advertised these mobile games, and the industry shows no signs of ceasing, especially now that Razer have made such monumental leaps forward in the handheld mobile gaming industry. The only question that now remains for Razer, as it always has done, is: where next?
