May rolls around packed to the brim with blockbuster releases. With such a busy schedule, most of us will unavoidably going to have to make some tough calls. What titles are earning your hard earned cash next month?

3rd May: Battleborn

PC, PS4, Xbox One

Two new hero shooters are butting heads in May. With Blizzard’s hotly anticipated Overwatch on the horizon, Battleborn has had a hard time gaining much attention, nor differentiating itself from the equally cartoon-y competition. Still, the new project from Borderlands developer Gearbox promises a robust single player offering next to its multiplayer mayhem with a full fledged campaign to boot.

10th May: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

PS4

Unchartered4

Originally this was going to be just another Uncharted. And we hadn’t been exactly starved for one when this was first announced. But with Naughty Dog’s dream team Druckmann and Straley (Uncharted 2, The Last of Us) taking over the project and promising a worthy and (hopefully) cathartic conclusion to Nate’s story, the hype train is once again left without brakes.

13th May: Doom

PC, PS4, Xbox One

Last month’s multiplayer beta was met with a rather lukewarm reception among fans of classic Doom. The new reboot moves away from its PC arena shooter roots to emulating modern console shooters like Halo and CoD, complete with weapon loadouts, traditional player progression and a much slower pace. The result has gamers divided, with largely favourable user reviews among PS4 and Xbox One players and a “mostly negative” rating on Steam.

20th May: Homefront: The Revolution

PC, PS4, Xbox One

The fate of this sequel to 2011’s Homefront was long in question after publisher THQ shut its doors in 2013. THQ had originally handed development of the title to Crytek UK, whose main publishing division then acquired the rights to the franchise, deciding to drastically redesign to new title and turn it into an open world game. But when Crytek experienced financial issues in 2014, it was forced to sell the game again, this time to co-publisher Deep Silver. Crytek UK was shut down and most of its staff formed Dambuster Studios, whose first output, Homeworld: The Revolution, is now finally expected to ship later this month. Let’s find out if it’s any good.

24th May: COMING UP

PC, PS4, Xbox One
